My younger, teenaged, perhaps slightly angst-ridden brother has posted a really funny short video with his friends on YouTube here.
Called Antigonish Hide 'n' Seek: "Discover Antigonish in whole new way. Follow four friends as they play the most classic game, in the most metal fashion."
Yes. Hide -n- Seek, to the sounds of Pantera. Sooooo random. I love it.

Thanks
So I turned 28 last week. Hard to believe, given that I still feel (and usually act) like I'm 20. Will this ever change? I kind of hope not.
Anyway, my friends/family all spoiled me in very nice ways including:

- Tiny sandwiches made on homemade bread
Thanks! xoxo

145 days left to go
The election fever is already hitting me. My federal prospects have left me completely cold, but I am really, really, really looking forward to this fall's territorial race.
And I learned something new today. In NU you have the option to vote by satellite phone or radio. The policy is in place to accommodate folks in mining and outpost camps.
Interesting, I thought.

La serre chaude
Radio-Canada interviewed me in the greenhouse today - in French! Ah, rusty, rusty words.
It was a great and humbling experience. I am constantly interviewing first-language Inuktitut speakers, forgetting how difficult the second-language work must be.
In French, I can get past, but with only a fraction of the vocabulary. So scary. It's like being trapped with only marginal use of your limbs. When I found out about the interview, I had about five minutes to do this:
KN: What's the word for food security?
Meemers: Uh, one second. Securite alimentaire?
KN: Shit, how do I even say "grow shit?"
Summer Student: Hey, your coat looks nice.
KN: Wait. Is Radio-Canada radio? Uh. never mind.
Anyway, I feel cool. And my pic in Nutsaq News two weeks ago! Haha.

Movie night
The Stephenator and I - along with a good percentage of all the 20- to 30-something women in town - went to see Sex and the City tonight. And drank slushies. Mine was peach.
We laughed, I almost cried. The estrogen was overwhelming at times. I returned home to a glass of wine and called some countermeasure.
- Ring -
Kate Nova: Uh, so I watched the movie. I learned a lot of things. And I think I need to really re-frame my life, you know. I've got to let go of the anger and really appreciate what I have. And I wish I had new clothes.
Testosterone: This sounds like it was a very cathartic experience for you.
KN: It was. It's all a bit much. So do you want to hear what I learned?
T: Uh.
KN: Well, basically, you have to learn to forgive. Maybe. Like, in some cases. And couples counselling is good if you're in a broken marriage. And small children repeat everything they hear.
T: Uh huh.
KN: But like, I really don't think columnists can afford all those shoes. And, like, I really don't think my girlfriends would appreciate me writing about their sex lives. And no one will ever take my picture and put it in Vogue magazine. Not that I'd want to. Oh, I don't know. But I think those people like clothes more than me.
T: Well, I smoked weed and played Frisbee today.
KN: Nice.
